I-Foundation was established in 2003 as a charity focused on providing high quality schools in the state sector. The Foundation is a registered charity whose directors are parents and community leaders committed to educational excellence.
We are committed to a version of faith schools that promotes community cohesion and integration and draws demand from all across the diverse communities we serve, and so aim to allocate a growing percentage of places at our schools to non-faith based applications.
Our schools share the following ethos statement:
"Our School prepares children for their life journey with unique pathways in educational excellence, character development and opportunities for spiritual experience. The school's emphasis on independent thought and choice supports each child's progress and emerging passion for learning. The environment and curriculum promote a holistic and responsible lifestyle and staff and governors are all are deeply committed members of a strategic leadership team who strive to lead by example. The school welcomes pupils of all backgrounds and works with the wider to community and partner organisations to instil pupils with confidence alongside a real sense of humility, and understanding of their role as British citizens. The school takes a personalised approach to learning and implements a comprehensive mentorship system which has significant parental involvement and ensures that the long-term happiness and fulfilment of the child is at the very heart of everything that we do. Based upon the teachings of Chaitanya, the school embraces a universal and inclusive approach to spirituality aimed at rekindling a personal, loving and spontaneous relationship with the divine, or Krishna."
We raised £2.4 million for our first project, the Krishna-Avanti Primary School in the London Borough of Harrow. Permission was granted via the competitive TCF route in 2005 and the school moved into its new premises in September 2009. The school was hailed as the most eco-friendly school in the UK and at its first Ofsted inspection, carried out in March 2010, it received the second highest 'Good' grade for overall effectiveness and the highest 'Outstanding' rating for its "capacity for sustained improvement". It earned a mix of 'Good' and 'Outstanding' scores in the remaining categories.
We are now working towards expanding provision at both primary and secondary levels in several areas around the UK and we anticipate raising funds in the order of £15 million to support our work over the next 5 years.
